New Windows CE Debuts

The new version of Windows CE for Pocket PCs, Pocket PC 2002 (formerly code-named Merlin), made its appearance in October and ushered in the OS's first major new features since April 2000. (The new Pocket PC version is based on Windows CE 3.0 rather than the next version of Windows CE, code-named Talisker.) Pocket PC 2002 upgrades are available only for Compaq's iPAQ line of products; other Pocket PC owners will need to buy new hardware.
