Alternatives to MIIS
Microsoft is by no means the only company in the identity-management business. Other major software vendors also offer products in this line:

  • IBM provides a suite of identity products within the Tivoli system, including the IBM Tivoli Access Manager family (IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-business, IBM Tivoli Access Manager for Operating Systems, and IBM Tivoli Access Manager for Business Integration), as well as IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator, IBM Tivoli Privacy Manager for e-business, and IBM Tivoli Directory Server.
  • Novell offers the Novell Nsure line of authentication, provisioning, directory, and auditing products, which is built on the company's Identity Automation Framework (IAF).
  • The Oracle Identity Management platform provides delegated administration, directory services, authentication, authorization, and provisioning services.
  • Sun Microsystems' Sun Java System Identity Server (formerly Sun ONE Identity Server) provides a Java-based Web interface for single sign-on (SSO), access management and identity administration services, and federation services for shared authentication with affiliated organizations.
